There’s More to Social Media Than Facebook
So, your company or business has a Facebook page. That’s great, you’re somewhat plugged into social media. Your posts have the potential to reach millions of Facebook users, but you’re still missing out on millions of people on the other social media platforms.
Here’s Incomar’s guide to social media platforms (other than Facebook, of course):
Just write 140 characters, post a photo or video and click “Tweet.” Users access Twitter via their phone the most. They scroll and look for quick hits of information whether it’s industry-related news or eye-catching entertaining Tweets. The most important thing about Twitter for companies is that everything is in real-time and is a place to start a conversation with potential customers.
Pinterest is the cork board of the Internet. A user find photos that reflect one of their interests, like cooking or crafting, or they perhaps find inspirational Pins of places they’d like to visit or products they’d like to own someday. They organize their Pins to online boards, so they can go back and look at the Pins again. Companies can either use Pinterest to distribute photos and copy of your content or allow users to be interactive with the product in the form of a tutorial. This works best for companies with visual products.
LinkedIn is a social media platform devoted to raising your personal work image, your company’s image or industry information. Your company can post articles showing your connections, clients and potential clients what your company is up to. LinkedIn lends itself best to articles and blogs. Display a new product blog or an article about how your company is moving your industry forward.
Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social media platform with the added benefits of hashtags and likes. Like Pinterest, Instagram best features companies that can create clever visuals. Instagram is a great way to show the personality of your company and provides the user with an exclusive behind-the-scene look at what your company is like to work at. You can also display products and reveal upcoming news visually.
